American Military University’s director of military outreach, George Vukovich, was elected president of the Virginia Advisory Council on Military Education, which encourages educational institutions to provide servicemembers with innovative and flexible services.


Dr. Matthew L. O’Connor was named dean of the Quinnipiac University School of Business in Hamden, Conn. O’Connor joined the business school faculty in 1999 and became interim dean of the school last year, succeeding Mark Thompson, who is now Quinnipiac’s senior vice president for academic and student affairs.


Dr. Donald Weatherman was named president of Batesville, Ark.- based Lyon College, succeeding Dr. Walter B. Roettger, who retired. Weatherman, a former professor of political philosophy at Lyon, most recently was executive vice president and dean of Due West, S.C.-based Erskine College.


Philadephia-based Peirce College announced the retirement of Arthur Lendo. Lendo helped make the school— founded in 1865 for Civil War veterans seeking work in manufacturing—into a regional hub for online education, with some 60 percent of its students now taking courses online.


LaGrange College, a four-year liberal arts and sciences college affiliated with the United Methodist Church and based in LaGrange, Ga., named Dr. Dan McAlexander as president. McAlexander was previously provost of Nashville, Tenn.-based Belmont University, which named associate provost Dr. Marcia McDonald as interim provost.


Susan Kelly, the president of Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, resigned following an extended leave of absence. Several university executives are handling her responsibilities while they search for a replacement.


William Jessup University president Bryce Jessup will retire next year, the Rocklin, Calif., school announced. Jessup has been president for the past 25 years. His father founded the private, Christian school as the San Jose Bible College in 1939. ♦
