3rd Annual Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities

Welcome to Military Advanced Education’s 3rd Annual Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities.

Gathered together here is what the editors of KMI Media Group aim to provide readers as uniform, pertinent information to help inform their selection of a school to begin or continue their advanced education. Some of the schools listed here offer a broad range of academic programs, while some are extremely specialized. Some have great distance learning programs that don’t require students to ever step foot on a physical campus, while others could only properly serve those students who can and want to attend classes in person.

A word of caution: not any one of these schools is necessarily the best choice for any individual student. This listing is merely intended as a guide to some, but by no means all, of the colleges and universities serving military-related students in the United States today. Among the attributes considered in evaluating schools is their regional or national accreditation and their membership in the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) consortium, which ensures that members meet set criteria for granting credit for specified military experience and training. All the schools in this guide, unless otherwise noted, are SOC members.

Certain schools within this list deserve particular notice, as designated by icons to the right of their names. Those with particularly commendable distance learning programs are marked by an icon with a computer mouse. Those with particularly good academics of one sort are another as designated by an icon with a hand holding a pen, while those with especially notable veterans support programs marked by an icon with a medal. A select few on this list have more than one icon.

The best information for choosing a school will be found at the many education service centers run by DoD in the United States and elsewhere around the world, where trained specialists work closely with veterans, servicemembers and their families to select the schools and programs that work best for each individual. We hope you will provide comments and suggestions to improve this guide in the years to follow.
